Notes about Fonger Idses Hoytinga

Beroep: herbergier en ambtenaar. Op 9 januari 1629 werd Fonger burger van Bolsward. Hij betaalde 4 gulden. Hij noemde de kroeg 'De Valk', gelegen aan de oostkant van het stadhuis. Hij was vergeten dat hij ook de naam Hoytinga al gebruikt had, maar dat had ook de naam van zijn vrouw kunnen zijn. Op 27 januari 1644 staat hij nog steeds genoteerd als herbergier.

Er is helaas geen logische verbinding te maken tussen Fonger Idse en de rest van de familie (Van) Hoitinga, een roemrucht Fries geslacht uit de omgeving van Bolsward, dat teruggaat tot de 14e eeuw. Toch kan het eigenlijk niet anders dan dat Fonger tot deze familie behoort.
