Melchior (roepnaam: Mels) was gildebroeder op 30-01-1555 ('54 stilo curie) 'wesende een gildebroederssoen', nog vermeld als houtkoper te Dordrecht in 1592, koopt op 12-07-1564 van Adriaentgen Heyndricksdr. weduwe van Pieter Jansz. Puttegal een huis op de Dortse Nieuwe Haven voor 1675 gulden. Hij was patroon van de Gregorius Prebende in de St. Pancraskerk te Leiden in 1594. Hij trouwt op huwelijkse voorwaarden voor 1560 met Marycke Claesdr., en bij de huwelijkse voorwaarden was hem door broer Steven 300 gulden. beloofd. Melchior en Marycke leven op 17 oktober 1575, wanneer Cornelis Claesz. Groot wordt gemachtigd i.v.m. de erfenis van Pieter Jansz., haar oom, in leven wonende te Hoorn.
