In de transcriptie van de huwelijksboeken van Amby staat dat Joannes "ex-Emale" is, ofwel, afkosmtig uit het Belgische Emael, aan de andere kant van de Maas. Dat ligt juist in het Franstalige deel, Wallonië. Bij zijn begrafenis wordt zijn achternaam gespeld, zij het moeilijk leesbaar, als SCHAETTE. Er zijn geen andere Chatrers of fonetisch gelijke familienamen aangetroffen.
