Er is een bron die stelt dat ze in 1660 te Leeuwarden is getrouwd met ene Matthijs Gerrits Colthoff. Deze lijkt eerder, in 1655, getrouwd te zijn met haar zus Hiltje.

In 1675 trouwt ze echter met Matthijs Jansonius. Ze is dan dus weduwe van Matthias Colthoff.

Grietje's liefdesleven wordt nog ingewikkelder als ze op 23 mei 1686 te Leeuwarden trouwt met ene Johannes Reckinga, een juwelier afkomstig uit Embden, Duitsland. Is dit een andere Grietje, of is ze dan gescheiden van Matthias Jansonius?

Overigens is er een link tussen de Bonnema's en het juridische werk van Matthias Jansonius. Hidde, een broer van Grietje, werkt als bode bij het Hof van Friesland.
