Medekeizer 1092, keizer van Byzantium 1118/43. Hij sticht 1136 het klooster Pantekrateros. Hij regeerde in de tijd tussen de Eerste en Tweede Kruistocht, probeerde tevergeefs 1137/38 het door de kruisvaarders veroverde Antiochië weer onder Byzantijnse heerschappij te brengen, een tweede geplande poging in 1143 werd slechts verijdeld door de dood van de keizer ten gevolge van een jachtongeval.
