Has been killed by the bretons after the Battle of Westrozebeke (November 27 , 1382) and all his belongings have been confiscated.

"gheslehen van den bortoenen" has to be understood that he was slaughtered by the French (since all soldiers of the French King's army were identified with this term). It also is clear that Zeger didn't participate in the battle himself , but that he was murdered after the battle when the French looted the Kortrijk region. He thus has to be considered as a civilian casualty.
