Personal data Joannes Steen

Household of Joannes Steen

He is married to Georgia Masiere.

They got married on August 27, 1662 at Roeselare (België).Source 3

parish register Roeselare, marriage August 1662:
" 27. Joannes Steen et Petronilla Masiere matrim coram Mario Barbier et Guillielmo Ghelthof"

Assuming that Petronella, who died at Roeselare 18.4.1671 is really a daughter of Joannes and Petronella Masiere (which has to be proved) and stating that Laurentius was baptized at Hooglede at 1.8.1671, it would be quite possible that the couple moved from Roeselare to Hooglede between 18 april 1671 and 1 august 1671. the acquisition by inheritance of some real estate in Hooglde could be the reason, but this has still to be explored.

Child(ren):

  1. Anna Steen  1662-????
  2. Maria Steen  1665-> 1715
  3. Petronilla Steen  ± 1669-± 1671
  4. Laurentius Steen  1671-1744
  5. Franciscus Steen  1674-1726

Notes about Joannes Steen

SOUR
"1679 Joannes Steen sepultus, 26 augusti cum tribus lectionibus"

However the death datum of Joannes Steen is uncertain. An other candidate is the Joannes who died 22.11.1694 : "23a 9bris sepultus est Joannes Steen cum 3 lect. Obiit 22a ejusdem 1694",
The former date is more in accordance to the birth date of the latest child, Franciscus in 1674

Anyway Joannes probably already had deceased in 1698 at the moment of the census in Hooglede:
the only matching entry in the census was: a widow of Jan Steen, having a son living with her who was older than 14 y ( that must be Franciscus, since he only married abt 1712, and his brother Laurentius married in the year of the census).This widow lived together in the same house as the widow of Guillaume Proot, having one boy older than 14 y, one girl older than 12 y and 2 boys till the age of 14.
(see census 1698 Hooglede, analyzed by Dr. Hubert van Ronse De Craene.)

Discovery of the orphan's chamber files will elucidate this problem
