"Volgens Hoppenbrouwers (1992): Jan Pijlijser, ridder, onder de vergaderden toen in 1355 na het overlijden van Hertog Jan III de Brabantse edelen bijeenkwamen. Was op 22-8-1371 militis onder de banier van Jan van der Leck in de slag bij Baesweiler. Trad in 1372 op als enqueteur in het kwartier van Leuven, in een van de periodieke onderzoeken naar het gedrag van de ambtenaren van de hertog. In 1374 werd hij schadeloos gesteld voor het verlies van 243 schapen bij de veldtocht richting Baesweiler. "
