Notes about Antonius Breemersch

This is the oldest Breemersch name bearer found in the parish registers of St. Hilonius church at Izegem.
Following mr. Jozef Van Overstraeten (Founder of " Vlaamse Automobilisten Bond" and "Vlaamse Touristenbond"), the name Breemersch surged for the first time in the Flanders region in 1415 in Messines-Meesen. there lived and worked a man called Petrus de Bremersch.
the signification of the name seems to be quite clear Bree (large) - mersch (Marsh).
(excerpt from a paper article published at the occasion of the 100 y anniversary of the establishment of the Breemersch workhouses).

Died at Izegem (see record parish registers p.943).
