According to Mr. Johan Roelstraete in "Het Geslacht van Steenkiste", Jan probably was a son of Jan De Blauwe and Jossine Noppe.

Hij erfde een leen van Franchois wylais uit hoofde van zijn vrouw. Jan de Blauwe fs Jans betaalde in 1608-9 relief voor het leen dat hij erfde van Joos Van Steenkiste.(1)

volgens de staat van zijn vader kwam Jan de Blauwe Jans zone melden in de weeskamer dat hij gehuwd was. ca 1606 verscheen Jan de Blauwe fs Jans, samen met Willem Coucke fs Joos en Thomas de Boosere fs Jan om melding te maken van een proces dat gerezen was tussen Jan de Blauwe fs Jan en Willem Coucke omwille van "pretensie als hebbende graet van hoirie van wilent Tanneken Willais fa Jans, overleden huisvrouw van voornoemde Thomas de Boosere (2)
