Joannes Franciscus M. (Jo) de Lepper, werd geboren op 9 december 1898 in Tilburg en overleed op 2 augustus 1942 in Dachau. Hij woonde Rozenplein 20 te Tilburg.
Jor was lid van de communistische partij (CPN), de enige partij die, toen ze verboden werd door de Duitsers (op 20 juli 1940), de stap heeft gedaan om als partij de illegaliteit in te gaan.
Kort na de bezetting besloten de leden van de CPN in Tilburg (40 tot 50 man) om de illegale krant 'Vrede-Vrijheid' uit te gaan geven.
De Duitse inval in de Sovjet-Unie op 22 juni 1941 leidde tot een jacht op communisten in Nederland, met name verspreiders en afnemers van communistische illegale bladen.
Met de arrestatie van o.a. Jo de Lepper werd de Tilburgse illegale leiding uitgeschakeld. Maar de uitgave van 'Vrede-Vrijheid' ging gewoon door.
De Lepper werd na zijn arrestatie overgebracht naar het kamp Schoorl en vervolgens via Amersfoort en Neuengamme naar Dachau.
