Notes about Frederik I "Frederik Iii" van Pruisen

In 1702 overleed Frederiks neef, koning-stadhouder Willem III kinderloos. Als kleinzoon van Frederik Hendrik van Oranje, maakte hij aanspraak op de titel Prins van Oranje, evenals Johan Willem Friso van Nassau-Dietz, die in Friesland als stadhouder was benoemd. Opnieuw werd de keurvorst door de burgemeesters van Amsterdam in de schouwburg ontvangen. De kwestie is pas in 1732 geschikt. Tot op de huidige dag mogen zowel de nazaten van Frederik III als van Willem IV van Oranje-Nassau zich "Prins van Oranje" noemen.
