Johan Carel Diehl heeft zich verdienstelijk gemaakt als huisarts, Laan v Meerdervoort te Den Haag, alsook districtartsvoor de KNVB.
Hij heeft in zijn jonge jaren met hart en ziel gevoetbald, ook wel hockey speelde, maar voetbal mooier vond omdat hierbij de toevalsfactor veel
verder is uitgeschakeld.
Van 1926-1930 zat hij H.B.S. I . In sportkringen werd hij "Kaak" genoemd: deze naam kreeg hij - en heet hij nimmer verloren - omdat hij tot tweemaa
toe bij wedstrijden van HBS een ontwrichte kaak met één enkele tik weer in de normale positie terugbracht. Ook heeft hij veel paardgereden.

Voorts heeft hij in W.O. II veel ondergronds werk verricht. Achter de schijnbare verstrooidheid van de arts ging een keihard positie kiezen schuil,
steeds weer nieuwe in nood verkerende mensen helpend.
Ook na de oorlog was hij een stille helper, die soms plotseling mensen te dineren vroeg bij wie hij "stille honger" veronderstelde.

Dienen stond in zijn devies geschreven.
