Tot de sjieke klanten van Mie Snels behoorde de markies De Zevero de Tejada, de toenmalige eigenaar van de Overheide en het landgoed Gorp, dat hij later aan de heer Hubert van Beusekom zou verkopen. Vergezeld van zijn dame van gezelschap placht de markies per rijtuig van Brussel te komen. Reeds vanaf gene zijde van de "meet" verheugde hij zich dan op de eerste Hollandse borrel bij Mie Snels.

Ook de vrouwelijke bode van Tilburg naar Turnhout v.v., de in Poppel wonende Mieke Stads, die later met de landweerman Willem Brok uit Goirle trouwde, was daar aan de grens een bekende verschijning. Deze had echter méér te doen aan het grenskantoor dan "In den Vreede". Ze dronk dan ook nog al eens haar "kumke koffie" bij de ontvanger, de heer Klein Paste, terwijl deze de papieren klaarmaakte. Dat ging dan in één moeite door. Mieke reed eerst met paard en wagen, later met een auto.
