Notes about Lucas Schoutens

Lucas Schouten, die het in het Franse leger bracht tot korporaal,
was geen conscript, maar werd al in maart 1806 vrijwillig ingelijfd
in het leger van de Bataafse Republiek. Hij werd 28 februari
1787 te Goirle gedoopt als zoon van vlaskoopman en inlandsche
kramer Francis Schouten en Wilhelmina Blanken. Zijn vader behoorde
tot de kleine groep dorpsnotabelen en was in de Franse
tijd adjunct-maire. Zijn moeder overleed te Goirle 28 september
1814. In 1817 werd het ouderlijke huis van Lucas te Goirle aan de
kerk verkocht door zijn broers Hendrik, Francis en Wilhelmus en
zijn zuster Antonia.
