Onder die naam is deze vrouw, die ruim 90 jaar oud geworden is, bij bijna niemand bekend. Maar als je spreekt over Kee de Muilezel, dan klaart bij menig oudere Goirlenaar het gezicht op en herinnert men zich ongetwijfeld een of meer prettig verlopen bezoekjes aan Cafe Rust en Lust. In dat café, aan de Poppelseweg, was Kee meer dan 60 jaar achter de toog te vinden.

Cornelia werd op 11 december 1908 geboren in de gemeente Hilvarenbeek, op het landgoed Gorp en Rovert op. boerderij de Koepel, de zevende van 11 kinderen.
Haar vader, Fons van lersel, geboren in Weelde, was rond 1900 getrouwd met Cornelia Paulissen, die van Gorp kwam. Fons en zijn vrouw woonden op "De Koepel", een pachtboerderij die nu nog steeds te vinden is aan de oostzijde van de Turnhoutsebaan. Hij werkte op hel landgoed, en kwam mel grote regelmaat met een muilezel in het dorp om boodschappen te doen. Zodoende kreeg hij - en zijn familie met hem - de bijnaam de Muilezel.
De kinderen gingen naar school in Hilvarenbeek, op een uur gaans. In 1921 verhuisde het gezin om onduidelijke redenen naar de Bakertand. Een jaar later ontstond de mogelijkheid om terug te gaan naar de zuidkant van Goirle: het café op Nieuw­kerk, aan de Poppelseweg, kon worden gepacht.
Het "Café Rust en Lust", annex boerderij, eigendom van 'de Baron' - baron Jamblinne de Meux - werd de nieuwe woonstee van het gezin Van lersel. Het boerderijwerk werd gedaan door de mannen, de vrouwen zorgden voor de gastvrijheid in het café. Kee, dertien jaar oud, moest al stevig mee aanpakken. Kee werkte steeds meer mee in het café en ontmoette daar ook haar Jan, met wie ze in 1935 trouwde, Jan van de Pol werkte als wever, eerst bij "d'n Puij", later bij van Enschot.
De boerderij was wel aangesloten op de waterleiding maar, omdat de afstand tot het dorp groot was en de aanvoerleiding klein, was de druk in de waterleiding zeer laag. Dat merkten wij bijna elke maandag want dan was het wasdag en als iedereen dan "aan de was is" wordt er veel water verbruikt met als gevolg dat degenen die het verste weg woonden het minste water hadden. Kee belde dan stevast op met de mededeling dat ze niet vooruit kon met de was en of we er maar voor wilde zorgen dat ze meer water kreeg. (Dat werd door de Jan Verschuren en Rinus van den Akker natuurlijk graag gedaan)

Cornelia trouwt in 1935 op 27-jarige leeftijd met Jan van de Pol.
