Notes about Adrianus Franciscus van Opstal

Adrianus was musicus op één van de schepen van de Holland-Amerika lijn.
Wilhelmina Schults overleed in 1922, terwijl Adrianus met het schip van de Holland-Amerika op
weg was naar Amerika. Adrianus is tijdens die reis ziek geworden en overleden. Bij aankomst in Amerika is zijn stoffelijk
overschot daar begraven.

Het echtpaar had 4 kinderen. Drie zonen en één dochter, die dus na het overlijden van hun ouders, wezen waren geworden.
Mijn ouders die toen al in Goirle woonden en nog geen kinderen hadden (behalve misschien mijn broertje Guusje ???),
hebben zich toen ontfermd over de 4 kinderen.
De drie jongens zijn door mijn ouders opgevoed tot het moment dat het verantwoord was dat zij op eigen benen verder konden.
Het meisje ANNA was de jongste van de 4 kinderen en is bij mijn ouders gebleven tot haar huwelijk met ADRIANUS van ERVEN.
Zij was dus al bij ons thuis toen ik geboren werd en haar dus altijd beschouwd heb als mijn zus.
Zij werd dienstbode bij de directeur van de Jute-spinnerij, die naast ons woonde.
Op latere leeftijd kreeg zij verkering met ADRIANUS van ERVEN, die in die tijd klerk was op het kantoor van de jute-spinnerij.
Na hun huwelijk konden zij een woning huren op het Oranjeplein. Hun buurman was Willem van Dal.
Na het faillisement ( ik meen in 1933) is ADRIANUS van ERVEN in dienst gekomen van de gemeente Goirle (ik meen als meter-
opnemer van het gas en water). In de oorlog zat hij op het distributiekantoor met NEEL DE VOLDER.
Jan, ik zag wel een foto van hem staan bij de in de oorlog gesneuvelde inwoners !!!!!
Over zijn vader en moeder kan ik je weinig vertellen, daarvoor ontbreken mij de gegevens.
Ik weet alleen dat die woonachtig waren op de KOUDE PAD en dat een zus van hem getrouwd was met KEES BRANDS, die destijds
een steenkolenhandel had en ook ijsjes verkocht. Een andere zus van hem was getrouwd met LENARD BOTERMANS, die werkzaam
was op de VOLT. Zijn jongste zus was getrouwd met BRAM STEGEHUIS en zij woonden in 1950 in de Burgem. Renstraat naast mij.

Ongetwijfeld zullen er bij de leden van de vereniging wel personen zijn die je met deze gegevens verder kunnen helpen.
Bram Stegehuis was beroepsmilitair en woont (woonde) in den Helder.
