Tapijtwever Martinus (Tinuske) Bekkers trouwde op 17 mei 1915 te Goirle met Elisabeth Maria (Bet) Houtepen. Op 17 mei 1965 vierde het echtpaar aan de Dorpsstraat 20 hun gouden bruiloft. De versiering van de, imiddels afgebroken, woning werd ontworpen door gobelinwever, later wethouder, Wim van Boxtel. Het feest begon 's morgens om half tien met een mis in de parochiekerk Maria Boodschap. De auto, waarin het gouden paar had plaatsgenomen, werd met linten door tien bruidjes, allen kleinkinderen, naar de kerk 'getrokken'. Het feest werd voortgezet in zaal de Linde aan de Dorpsstraat, waar de receptie door ruim 200 personen bezocht werd. De vertegenwoordiging van de directie van de firma Andries Visser C.V. Zaadhandel te Steenwijk, was de hele dag op het feest uitgenodigd. Tinuske had namelijk, naast zijn werk in de fabriek, een zaadhandel, waar hij producten van de voornoemde firma verkocht. Het cadeau van de buurt, aangeboden door de voorzitter van het feestcomité, Leo van Rijswijk, bestond uit een fraaie brilledoos met daarin een gesloten couvert. De volgende dag, op 18 mei, was er een groot feest voor de buurt in zaal de Linde. Tinuske Bekkers was werkzaam bij de firma Van Besouw, waar hij t.g.v. zijn 45-jarig dienstverband onderscheiden werd met de bronzen medaille in de orde van Oranje Nassau.
