Hij was te Haarlem curator aan de Latijnse school tot 1640.
Op 21 Juni 1595 werd hij als Henricus Henrici Swalmius Dordracenus ingeschreven aan de universiteit van Leiden als student van de letteren.

Zijn portret is geschilderd door Frans Hals.
