25. Catharina van Kleef, geb. 25-5-1417, overl. Lobith 20-2-1476, begr. Karthuizerklooster opten Grave bij Wesel, tr. Arnold van Egmond, geb. 1410; volgt in 1423 zijn oudoom Reinoud IV op als hertog van Gelre en graaf van Zutphen; komt echter in conflict met keizer Sigismund; raakt door de vele moeilijkheden zeer in de schuld; onderneemt 1450-1452 een reis naar Palestina; wordt in 1465 door zijn zoon Adolf gevangen genomen en later door Karel de Stoute bevrijd; verpandt dec. 1472 zijn hertogdom voor 300.000 gouden rijnse guldens aan Karel de Stoute; overl. Grave 23-2-1473, begr. Grave; zn. van Jan II van Egmond en van Maria van Arkel.
