Jan Andriessen AERTOOM beroep: schipper, woonde aan de Noord Voorstraat te 's-Gravendeel trouwde
(1) Jannigje Pietersdr de VRIES, trouwde (2) Ariaantje Ariens de MAN. Het dorp æs-Gravendeel
ontstond omstreeks 1562, toen de Nieuw-Bonaventura- polder in de Hoekse Waard werd ingedijkt. De
eerste bewoners waren boeren, polderwerkers, vissers en schippers. De polderwerkers waren na de
bedijking achtergebleven. De voornaamste bedrijvigheden waren veeteelt en landbouw en speciaal
vlasteelt. Verder het overladen uit zeeschepen in binnenschepen van vrachtgoed bestemd voor
Dordrecht en Rotterdam. Zeeschepen, via de Oude Maas uit de Noordzee komend, konden hun
bestemming niet bereiken, wegens een ondiepte in de Kil, ,,de Crabbe" genaamd.
