Albertus Otto Swalue, schilder te Leeuwarden (? - 1768), stamt uit een zeer bekend Leeuwarden geslacht, waarvan enkele leden burgemeester van de stad zijn geweest. De familie behoorde tot de collatoren van het St.
Christophori leen. Voor het eerst vinden we de schilder vermeld in het
proces verbaal van collatie voor het Christophori leen van 8 april 1715, opgenomen in het Vrijmoedig Beroep tegens...de Staten van Friesland (1779). Op bladzijde 104 komt de schilder voor als collator en wordt daarbij "Mr. schildenaar" binnen Leeuwarden genoemd. Op 15 maart 1720 koopt hij samen met zijn vrouw Antje Cornelis Gaykema een huis op de Dijk.
Vervolgens vinden we de namen van hem en zijn vrouw herhaaldelijk terugin consentboeken als koper van huizen. Onder andere koopt hij in 1739
het huis Aed Lewerd in de Grote Kerkstraat. Zijn vrouw sterft op 19 september 1756 en daarna worden alle huizen verkocht. Steeds wordt in de akten het schildersberoep van Swalue vermeld. De ene keer wordt hij "meester schilder" genoemd, dan weer "meester fijnschilder", "meester schildenaar", "meester konstschilder" of "meester verwer." In 1768 zal hij overleden zijn; op 5 november 1768 wordt in de Leeuwarder Courant vermeld dat de boedel, nagelaten door de kunstschilder, wordt verkocht.
