Hij was schoolmeester te Kantens (161.-164.). Vermoedelijk was Bene Rhodius een neef van ds. Wesselus Rhodius senior. Bene en Wesselus waren waarschijnlijk achterkleinzonen van de bekende theoloog Hinne Rode.
