Haar eerste en haar tweede man overleden binnen 11 jaar na het voltrekken van het huwelijk terwijl haar derde man binnen een jaar na het sluiten van het huwelijk overleed. Ook een aantal van haar kinderen overleden op zeer jonge leeftijd. Ondanks deze tegenslagen werd ze zelf 83 jaar.
