Notes about Uupca Johannis to Knossens

Uupca, of in moderne versie: Upka woonde omstreeks 1450 op Knossens, eenbuurtschap van enkele boerderijen ten zuidoosten van Bolsward. Hij treedt op als getuige in een oorkonde van 5 juni 1456 en zet ter bevestigingvan dat stuk, waarin een zekere Peter Marten zoen afziet van hem toekomend land, zijn zegel daarop. Naast Upka bevestigen ook heer Henric, persona te Bolsward en Tabben Boldwiins, schepen te Bolsward deze verklaring (Workum G.A.: nr. B7, d.d. 5-6-1456). Wat betreft zijn afkomst en status, zie de hoofdstukken "Het Familiewapen Cnossen-Knossen-Crossen" en "DeBewoning van Knossens". Upka was wellicht getrouwd met een zekere Reijnske (Sickama?), die voorkomt als Reijnske Wopka weduwe, bij wie hij twee kinderen had, t.w.: Rixt (10.1) en Johan (10.2).
