Vertrok op 11 oktober 1922 uit Vaassen naar Culemborg voor de opleiding tot Rooms-Katholiek priester.
Na enige jaren kapelaan te zijn geweest in het centrum van Haaksbergen werd hij benoemd tot "bouwpastoor" van een nieuwe kerk in een buitenwijk van Haaksbergen (Lourdeskerk, bouwjaar 1959). Enkele jaren na de voltooiing van dit project overleed pastoor Dijkman plotseling (hartstilstand) in 1962. De kerk werd gesloten in 2013, waarna parochieleden en koorleden uitzwermden over naburige parochies (katholieke kerkgemeenschappen). Notitie van Jan Dijkman, maker van deze stamboom.

Geschiedenis
Parochie Onze Lieve Vrouw van Lourdes, opgericht in de naoorlogse jaren, toen Haaksbergen zich in westelijke richting uitbreidde. De kerk, ingewijd in 1958, is driebeukig van opzet, met een brede middenbeuk en smalle zijbeuken, qua concept gebaseerd op de volkskerk van de jaren 1920 en '30. Het middenschip wordt overdekt door bakstenen graatgewelven. Fronttoren met achthoekige, opengewerkte lantaarn. Belangrijk laat werk in het oeuvre van architect Van Beers in traditionalistische trant.
De kerk heeft ook een goede akoestiek. Besloten is de kerk ook te gaan gebruiken voor concerten. (57-07) Ook Cultureel Centrum.
De parochie is inmiddels opgegaan in het parochieverband Sint Franciscus. Op zondag 13 januari 2013 is de kerk officieel aan de eredienst onttrokken.
