Hij vertrok op 12-9-1898 naar Kuilenburg (Culemborg), waar zich in die tijd een seminarie (priesteropleiding) bevond: volgens zijn overlijdensakte was hij Roomsch Katholiek Priester.
Over deze man staat in de brochure "Ecclesia in Fassna", over de geschiedenis van het katholicisme in Vaassen, vermeld:
Hermanus Wilhelmus Dijkman werd geboren te Vaassen, 8 Maart 1880 en priester gewijd op 15 Aug. 1908, werd kapelaan te Uithoorn en ontving 11 April 1919 benoeming naar Denekamp. Op 15 October 1920 ging hij vandaar weder naar Uithoorn, nu als assistent en belast met de oprichting eener nieuwe parochie te De Hoef (gemeente Mijdrecht), in de nabijheid van uithoorn gelegen.

Op 10 April van ’t volgend jaar volgde zijn benoeming tot pastoor aldaar, doch reeds op 10 Dec. 1922 riep God dezen voorbeeldigen priester tot Zich. Hiermede was een priesterleven afgesneden, dat nog zulke schoone beloften inhield voor de toekomst. Edoch de mensch wikt, doch God beschikt!
