Vervolgens werd Octavianus monnik in de Abdij van Sint-Pieter van de Gouden Hemel in https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavia_(stad)">Pavia, die onder de https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzereiniteit">suzereiniteit van de Abdij van Cluny stond. In 1132 werd hij door https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paus_Innocentius_II">paus Innocentius II tot priester gewijd.

Deze functie behield hij tot aan zijn dood in 1128.
