De Stamboom Ubachs '12 zegt: De familie Pallant woonde tot midden 16e eeuw in kasteel Cortils. Jean van Strijthagen (opvolger van Johan van Cortenbach), breidde het complex in 1606 uit. Willem en Elisabeth hadden drie kinderen: Johan, Godart en Catharina. In het geboortejaar van de laatste stierf Elisabeth op jonge leeftijd. Verder wordt ook over Willem vermeld: Op verzoek van Willem van Strijtagen, voogd van Valkenburg, worden zijn twee buitenechtelijke dochters, Margaretha en Maria, gewettigd door Petrus Tulleman, die hiertoe is gemachtigd door de keizer Frederik IV. Margaretha en Maria zijn namelijk van plan hun leven door te brengen in een klooster, maar hun buitenechtelijke geboorte vormt daarvoor een belemmering. Of Margaretha en Maria ook daadwerkelijk in het klooster van Sint Gerlach zijn ingetreden is niet met zekerheid te zeggen. Wel komt een Margaretha Strijthagen als werkzuster (convers) voor in het necrologium op 8 augustus. Het is mogelijk dat deze de dochter is geweest van Willem van Strijthagen. Misschien is de 'smet op haar geboorte' toch nog een belemmering voor haar geweest om als moniale te kunnen intreden in Sint Gerlach.
