Notes about Geertje Neef


Na het overlijden van haar man is Geertje Neef in de problemen gekomen. Zij heeft om bijstand moeten vragen aan de gemeente Krimpen a/d Lek, die haar heeft "uitbesteed" (de officiële term!) aan de kolonie Frederiksoord in de Drentse gemeenteVledder. Deze kolonie werd in 1818 opgericht door de Maatschappij van Weldadigheid, die zich ten doel stelde "om armen en asocialen uit heel Nederland tot een nieuw zelfstandig bestaan op te voeden" door het stichten van landbouwkoloniën op woestegronden in Drente. Door deze plaatsing in Frederiksoord, met ingang van 10 maart 1831, moet Geertje per notariële verklaring haar toestemming geven voor het huwelijk van haar dochter Aagje in 1835. De verklaring wordt afgegeven door openbaar notaris J.W. Fabius te Steenwijk; dit geschiedt gratis, op grond van het door de gemeente Vledder afgegeven certificaat van onvermogen van weduwe Geertje Neef. - Later is Geertje teruggekeerd naar haar geboorteplaats, waar zij ook is overleden; aangiftegeschiedde daar door haar broer Jan, oud 59 jaar, watermolenaar.
