  Extract from the "Redres-Generaal der Verpondingen (tax on property)" of the year 1632 levied by the government of Holland:
  
  Tax collectors in Loosdrecht were Dirk Willemsz Ploos, Maerten Adriaensz, Heijndrick Heindriks Muier [probably Meijers].
  Taxes collected:
  - grain mill ƒ31.12.12 (31 caroli guilders, 12 "stuivers" (nickels), 12 pennies);
  - 221 houses ƒ366.13.0;
  - 1484 morgen and 500 roeden land ƒ2856.4.8.
  The above tax on land also include 322 morgen, 300 roeden lost area, probably due to peat digging, which adds up to a total of 1807 morgen, 200 roeden. For comparison, the total registered land area in the year 1583 was 1822 morgen. So, 338 morgen land was lost, and probably turned into lakes and ponds due to peat digging, in 48 years.
  
  Note: A "morgen" (morning) is an old Dutch unit of area representing the land area that could be ploughed in a one morning. It varied depending on the region from 0.8 to 1.0 ha.
