Hij was wever.

Van mijn grootmoeder Deiman weet ik dat hij na het overlijden van Bernardus Deiman in 1884 als voogd van de toen anderhalf jaar oude Johannus Harmannus Deiman, mijn grootvader, optrad. Volgens mijn grootmoeder was hij ongetrouwd. Hij was erg arm en woonde in een plaggenhut. Als hij op stap ging om zijn weefsels te verkopen werd de kleine Johannus Harmannus met een touw aan een boom gebonden en hielden de buren hem wat in de gaten.
Van een echtgenote van Johannus Theodorus was niets bekend, volgens mijn grootmoeder was hij ongehuwd. Een beetje merkwaardig, temeer daar in de overlijdensakte van Harmina geen echtgenoot staat vermeldt.
