Volgens haar mededelingen in 1999 (zij woonde toen in Amsterdam) werd zij, toen het gezin in Tietjerk woonde (in de buurtschap Lytse Geast, Kleine Geest), als het daar hoog water was, door haar broer Pieter hele einden gedragen om droog te blijven. Hij was namelijk wel in het bezit van goede laarzen. Zij is op 98-jarige leeftijd in Amsterdam overleden.
