    De Nieuwe Gorinchemsche Courant van 23 maart 1911 bericht dat P. Veth Az uit Papendrecht in Utrecht slaagt voor het machinistenexamen, diploma C grote vaart. Ik vermoed dat dit om Piet Veth gaat. Piet is expert (1914), kantoorbediende (1921), technisch vertegenwoordiger van de N.V. Handelsmaatschappij Jos de Poorter Rotterdam (1922), werktuigkundige (1923), (scheeps- en werktuigkundig) expert (1924-1935), vertegenwoordiger (1939) en tekenaar. Het Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad van 6 oktober 1941 bericht dat de kantonrechter in Rotterdam Piet beëdigt tot taxateur van binnenvaartuigen voor het tijdvak 18 september 1941 tot 18 september 1942. In de editie van 17 september 1943 staat een soortgelijk bericht voor het tijdvak 1943-1944. Ookin Het Vrije Volk van 10 oktober 1946 staat een dergelijk bericht.

    Piet woont bij zijn huwelijk in Papendrecht, Anna Marie in Wilster (Sleeswijk-Holstein, Duitsland), waar haar vader chef van de leerfabriek is. Het gezin verhuist op 16 februari 1920 van Papendrecht naar Rotterdam en woont daar aan de Plantageweg 90 B (1920), aan de Vierambachtstraat 112 B (1920-1925), aan de Dijkstraat 102 (1925-1939, het huisnummer is vanaf in ieder geval 1934 '132') en aan de 's-Gravenwetering 2 (1950). Piet en Anna Marie wonen in 1970 in Hilversum aan de W.C. Bradelaan 1(1970). Piet overlijdt 'onverwacht'.

    In 1944 en 1945 schrijft hij een brief aan een (achter) nicht en neef met daarbij de stamboom uitgeschreven van de families Hoebee en Dahmen. De opdruk van de brief is P. Veth, scheeps-, werktuigkundig- en motorexpert, technisch adviseur en taxateur, Rotterdam, Libanonweg 12 a. Hij bedankt in de brief voor de foto's die hem zijn toegezonden en deelt mee deze tot na de oorlog in zijn kluis te zullen bewaren. Ik heb het vermoeden dat het gaat om een brief aan Geetruida (Truus) Dahmen, omdat hij in de brief informeert of bij neef Oosten al een kind is geboren: Josina Cornelia Dahmen (gehuwd met Oosten).
