Men leest in de Chronycke van Azevedo, "Martinus de Cuypere, bisschop van Calcedoniën ende abt van St. Crispin, tusschen Valencijn ende Bergen in Henegouw, uyt welcke abdij desen gevlucht sijnde, ter oorsaecke van de Troubelen der Geusen ende Hueguenotten, die alsdan de geseyde twee steden ingenomen hadden, is in de abdye van Vorst bij Brussel gekomen, alwaer hij beleefdelijk ontvangen synde is gestorven den 28 Julius in de slaepplaetse van de Gastcamer
begraven 1572 te Vorst. In de kerk (de tekst is niet duidelijk of het de eingenlijk kerk is of de "binne kerke" van het klooster) onder de kloktoren. In 1590 liet zijn opvolgen hem ontgraven en overbrengen naar Crespin.
