Notes about Jacob(us) de Mos

Jacob(us) de Mos (geb. 27-3-1862, overleden 2-8-1885 op zee). De oorzaak van zijn overlijden kent 2 versies:
De ene luidt dat matroos Jacob de Mos door losschietend touwwerk van de tuigage omhoog de mast in werd getrokken en door hetzelfde touwwerk werd gewurgd. De andere versie vertelt dat de Mos toen hij door de tuigage - waarin hij met een voet zat verward - omhoog werd getrokken en met zijn hoofd tegen de mast aansloeg. Hoe dan ook, toen de Mos uit de mast werd gehaald, was hij al overleden. Zijn lichaam werd op 9 augustus 1885 te Scheveningen aan wal gebracht.
Cornelia van Leeuwen (geb. 1863), gehuwd op 24-12-1884 (akte 1006) met Jacob de Mos (1862-1885). Zij was 7 maanden na hun huwelijk, bij het overlijden van Jacob de Mos op 2 augustus 1885 (akte 2150), in verwachting van de op 11-9-1885 geboren dochter Jacoba Petronella Maria de Mos (akte 3535).
Cornelia van Leeuwen huwt dan op 9-5-1888 met Martinus Keus (1860), waaruit nog 7 kinderen komen.

Uit: Nieuws van den Dag, 10 aug. 1885: "Zondagsrust! Verhinder die niet!« Hedenmorgen is te Scheveningen de bomschuit Sch 67 van den reeder P. de Jager aangekomen, met het lijk van Jacob de Mos, die verleden Zondag op het vaartuig uit den mast is gevallen...".
NB. Zijn huwelijks- en overlijdensakte vermelden "Jacob DE MOS, oud 23 jr., zoon van Teunis DE MOS" en ook zijn enigst kind heeft de familienaam "DE MOS".
