Jan Reudink en zijn broer Albert werden op 6 april 1911 in Enschede uitgeschreven als vertrokken naar Clarksville, U.S.A. Ze reisden vanaf Rotterdam met de "Rijndam" en arriveerden op 18 april 1911 in New York (Ellis Island). Als bestemming gaven ze op een vriend Fredrik Teutelink te Clarksville, Iowa en ene Robert Burroughs. Frederik Teutelink was op 5 juli 1910 in New York aangekomen met de "Potsdam". Hij had in Enschede gewoond aan de Emmastraat 183. De passagierslijst van de Rijndam vermeld dat Jan en Albert beide blond haar hadden en blauwe ogen en dat ze in goede gezondheid verkeerden. Albert was 5 voet en 7 inches lang en Jan 5 voet en 6 inches. Hun overtocht hadden ze zelf betaald.
