Henry Coenraad Johannes de Vaynes van Brakell Buys en zijn tweede vrouw Willemina Jacoba Sophia de Klark zijn begraven op de Begraafplaats Den en Rust aan de Frans Halslaan 27 Bilthoven. Hoewel reeds in 1923 gescheiden, ze zijn begraven in hetzelfde graf.
Henry Coenraad Johannes de Vaynes van Brakell Buys en Marie Antoinette Twiss zijn getrouwd "met de handschoen".(Juridisch: "Trouwen bij volmacht".). Gemachtigde van de bruidegom was Johan Laurens Koster, oud 50 jaar, zonder beroep, wonende te's-Gravenhage volgens akte verleden op 19 september 1903 voor notaris Jonkheer Arnoud Herman van der Does de Bije te Soerabaja. Het voorgenomen huwelijk werd afgekondigd op 14 en 21 februari 1904. De vader van de bruidegom en de ouders van de bruid waren aanwezig en gaven hun toestemming; de moeder van de bruidegom was overleden. Getuigen waren Cornelis van der Gou Netscher, oud 60 jaar, zonder beroep, Wijnoldus Munninks de Jongh, oud 53 jaar, bewaarder van het kadaster in Nederlands Indië, met verlof, Jonkheer Willllem Maurits de Brauw, oud 30 jaar, ingenieur der telegrafieen Willem Jacob Twiss, oud 23 jaar, zonder beroep. De tweede getuige woonde in Leiden, de overigen in 's-Gravenhage.

Hiervan is deze akte opgemaakt.
De bijlagen bij de huwelijks- en echtscheidingsakten van september 1898 t/m 1944 van 's-Gravenhage zijn bij een brand in 1945 verloren gegaan.

Mijn naam is Willem Knuttel, woon in Delft. In mijn gang hangen enkele portretten van mijn voorouders, waaronder die van Willem De Vaynes van Brakell(1763-1843) en zijn vrouw Johanna Eytelwijn(1772-1808) Ik stam hier van af via hun dochter Johanna. Volgens mij stamt de familie De Vaynes van Brakell Buys af van haar zuster Helene (1806-1889) die meen ik met de heer Buys was getrouwd.
Tijdens de eerste wereldoorlog werden door Nederlandse banken twee dochterondernemingen opgericht in Rusland. De Nederlandsche Bank voor Russischen Handel (Nedrus) en de Russisch-Hollandsche Bank (Holrus). Zij begonnen hun activiteiten in 1916. Holrus, gevestigd in Sint Petersburg, opende al spoedig een tweede vestiging in Moskou, waar Henry de Vaynes van Brakell Buys, voorheen wisselmakelaar in Batavia, samen met Frederik Will tot directeuren werden benoemd. Na de Oktober-revolutie in 1917 werd de bank echter door de bolsjewieken genationaliseerd en konden de aandeelhouders fluiten naar hun centen en de employee?s op zoek naar ander werk. Henry bleef nog een tijdlang in Moskou om te proberen de bank terug te krijgen, wat uiteindelijk niet lukte. Op 31 januari 1918 werd ook het hoofdkantoor van de Holrus in Sint-Petersburg door bolsjewieken bezet. Buys en anderen werd de toegang tot hun kantoren ontzegd. Van de archieven van de Holrus is vrijwel niets over. Het Russische deel werd ondergebracht bij de Rossijskij Gosoedarstvennij Istoritsjeskij Archiv (RGIA) te Sint-Petersburg. Het Nederlandse deel ging op 14 Mei 1940 bij het bombardement van Rotterdam in vlammen op samen met de Rotterdamse bank, de moedermaatschappij. Na de gedwongen sluiting van de bank keerde Henry terug naar Indië, waar hij eerder al als makelaar te Batavia had gewerkt. Daar werd hij directeur van het Aziatisch hoofdkantoor van de Nederlandsch-Indische Handelsbank.
