De moeder van de bruidegom en de vader van de bruid verklaarden de akte niet te kunnen ondertekenen als hebbende zulks niet geleerd.
Willem en Grietje hadden een verklaring van onvermogen:
Certificaat van Onvermogen.

De BURGEMEESTER der gemeente Westerbork, provincie Drenthe, verklaart, op de getuigenis van Lammert Nijenhuis, van beroep bakker, en van Jan Wolters, van beroep veldwachter, bekend wonende in deze gemeente en bij hem bekend als geloofwaardige en meerderjarige personen, dat Willem van der Vecht en Grietje van Zwol, mede in deze gemeente woonachtig, onvermogend zijn tot betaling van de kosten der akten, bewijzen en schrifturen, benoodigd tot het voltrekken van een huwelijk, en dat zij mitsdien vallen in de termen van het 10e lid § A van art 27 der wet van den 3den October 1848 (Staatsblad ? 47).
