Er wordt beweerd dat Anna Elisabeth Stoel één van de oprichters van het humanisme in Nederland zou zijn, wat ik sterk betwijfel. De eerste humanistische organisatie in Nederland was de vrijdenkersvereniging De Dageraad; opgericht op 12 oktober 1856 in Amsterdam. Anna Elisabeth was toen dus al 27 jaar dood.
