Notes about Elisabeth Coucke

Elisabeth heb ik pas na lang zoeken gevonden in de archieven van Belledael te Affligem. Ze was gehuwd met Jan Eeman in 1623 in Teralfene. Haar echtgenoot was getuige op het huwelijk van Matthijs Couck
met Jacoba de Doncker, het jaar daarop. Daardoor wist ik meteen dat zij mogelijk de zuster was van mijn stamgrootvader Matthijs. Getuigen op Elisabeth's huwelijk waren Jan van Nieuwenhove, van wie ik
ook afstam, en Henricus Couck. De meter van haar derde kind was Joanna Couck. Mathijs, Elisabeth, Joanna en Hendrik waren dus zeer waarschijnlijk broers en zussen. Aangezien ik Elisabeth, Hendrik en
Joanna niet in zowel Teralfene als in Liedekerke kon traceren zocht ik in Aalst naar gegevens over hen, en ik meen die ook gevonden te hebben. Ik vond daar in de parochieregisters geboorten Aalst een
Elisabeth Couck, geboren in 1593, waarschijnlijk is dat mijn stamgroottante. Verder een Henricus Couck, gehuwd met Anna Cools in 1634, waarschijnlijk deze getuige, en een Joanna Couck, gehuwd in 1614
met een zekere Pevenaise. De vader zou Christiaan Coucke zijn, ontvanger van de stad Aalst. Mijn voorvaderen Couck waren dus met zekerheid van Aalst afkomstig, daar twijfel ik niet aan. Al deze veronderstellingen zijn echter nog louter hypothetisch, er dient nog veel bewezen te worden.
