Notes about Maria Margaretha Sachs b2 SM

SACHS(E) JOACHIM (S). - Egeln near Magdeburg. Mentioned as burgher at Stellenbosch since 1691, owner of the farm “Sachsenburg” on the Kuilsrivier. ~ '''Susanna''' '''Holswig of Haszleben in Thuringia''', who came out in 1691 with 4 children (names not mentioned). S. repatriated 1705 with his wife and four children. (StellenboschArch., vol. 1021; CJ 1121 under 24.11.1692; Kolbe, I, p. 90; MR. Vrye Lieden 1695-98; C 503, p. 114; Leibbrandt, Letters desp. 1696-1708, p. 258.) Sachse's children seem to have been '''Johann Paulus, Maria Margaretha, Maria Sibilla and''' '''Peter Andreas''', whose father was Johann Joachim Sachse, in 1716 resident at Quedlinburg. The birthplace of Johann Paulus is given as Magdeburg, that of the other three as Güsten. '''Johann Paulus''' is probably identical with J. P. Saxe, who repatriated 1705 and asked to be allowed to work his passage home. (Leibbrandt, Letters desp. 1696-1708, p. 288.) He returned 1706 as sa. and was loaned, 6.11.1706, as farmhand to his brother, Peter Andreas. (CJ 1125: 137.) He is mentioned as the brother of Maria Margaretha Sachse in Stellenbosch Arch., vol. 624 under 26.7.1708. '''Peter Andreas Sachse''' (S Sachse and Sachs) is mentioned as burgher at Stellenbosch in MR. Vrye Lieden of 1700. ~ (1) 2.4.1702 '''Jannetje Floris of Zeeland''', i.e., d. of Floris Slabbert of Zeeland and Huybrechtje Jaspers (G.R. nr. 874); ~ (2) 13.4.1749 '''Christina de Vyff''', d. of the Chinese Abraham de Vyff and Maria Jacobs of Batavia (Inv. O.C. 2: 66). He was sexton of Stellenbosch in 1715. + 1766. (CJ 1125: 137; Rq. 1715-16: 103; Test.CJ 1166: 8; Test. CJ 1173: 103; Test. CJ 1182: 88.)
