Adriaan de Maat was in 1746 tevens Kapitein van de compagnie burgerij van de parochie van Sr.Pauluspolder. Hij volgde hierin zijn schoonvader Brictus Claassen op.
Hij liet in het zilveren schild, dat aan de koningsbreuk werd bevestigd graveren:
'Rijst op mijn trage pen en wilt niet lang versingen...
In 1737 schoot Adriaan de Maat zich tot koning van het schuttersgilde St.Sebastiaan van Pauluspolder.
