Op 8 maart 1773 stuurt Hendrik een brief aan de burgemeester om zich te beklagen over de verbouwing van het Wachthuis, waardoor het licht in zijn blauwververij wordt weggeneomen:, In " Ommen rond de 19e eeuw" vinden we op pagina 114 de originele tekst. "Wel Edele Agtbare Heeren Burgemeester en Gemeensluiden der Stad Ommen. Nadien ik, Hendrik Luttekes vernomen hebbe dat uw Edele agtbaare voornemens is het wagthuis der Stad Ommen te Repareeren of vernieuwen, zoo ik de vrijheid mag nemen is mijn verzoek op het allerdemoedigste aan u agtbare om indien het iets doendelijk is mijn dit ten gevalle te doen om het glaase Cosijn het welk ik agter mijn Ververij hebbe, waardoor ik het Nodige Ligt scheppe niet te mogen beneemen, terwijl ik niet zien kan dat het UE Nadeel kan zien of veroorsaken also het tog boven 2 voet niet kan scheelen anders ben ik nog genootsaakt om een nieuw glas te zetten, hetwelk ik gebrekkig kan doen. Indien UEdele agtbare mij dit gelieve te vergunnen mij sou groot Pleizier geschieden, zoo dat ik hier op van UE agtbare een gunstig antwoort verwagte in welke verwagting blijve UEdele onderdanige Dienaar, Ommen, den 8 Maart 1773, Hendrik LUttekes. .
