Notes about Petrus Johannes van Gestel

Na het overlijden van zijn ouders heeft Jan de boerderij op de Veldvoort verder uitgebaat met 2 zusters. Toen Jan trouwde kreeg ieder zijn deel . En zo kwam Jan met zijn vrouw Lien op de ouderlijke hoeve van familie van Gestel.

Jan was een ras echte kempische boer. Hij hield van de boerenstal , zijn vee , zijn landerijen , zijn uitgestrekte weilanden, die hij met taaie werkkracht veroverde op de toen nog uitgestrekte heidevlakten.

Jan was ook een man met een groot geloof , vroom en voor een goede verstandhouding met iedereen. Zijn echtgenote , Lien , was ëën en al zorg voor haar gezin. Naar het welzijn van haar kroost ging haar rusteloos streven. Zij was in de volle zin van het woord moeder van haar 9 kinderen. Twee van hen zijn zeer jong gestorven en Louisa stief op de leeftijd van 17 jaar in 1927. 

Joanna , Emma en Julia werden kloosterzuster.

Jef , Trientje en Maria traden in het huwelijk en hebben net als hun ouders , in de boerenstiel hun geluk gevonden.
