De jongste zoon uit het huwelijk van Cornelis Cornelisz de Bruijn de Oude en Marij Hermans van Bracht was Jan de Bruijn. Hij is waarschijnlijk in Malden geboren. Deze Jan de Bruijn bereikte een, voor die tijd, opvallend hoge leeftijd van ruim negentig jaar. Omstreeks 1658 keek hij voor het eerst de wereld in en niet ver na 4 december 1752 blies hij zijn laatste adem uit.
