De dochter Romkje van notaris Jacobus Sinnema, wier moeder een lid was van de Olterterper patriciÍrsfamilie Boelens, trouwde met de in Dokkum geboren mr. zilversmid HIDDE HALBETSMA. Hij was na zijn leertijd bij Pytter Jilderda in Dokkum en bij Johannes van Hoecken en Willem Batenburg in Den Haag, eerst korte tijd werkzaam in Beetsterzwaag, maar bij hun trouwen in 1713 vestigde het paar zich in Gorredijk. Hij zou er meer dan veertig jaar zijn vak uitoefenen. Zijn achterkleinzoon ds. Joost Halbertsma zou hem in 1858 in een familiekroniek beschrijven als een voornaam zilversmid, die zeer goed tekende en uitmuntend in zilver dreef. Voor de Engelse ambassadeur zou hij een zilveren tafelservies hebben gemaakt, dat niet minder dan 25.000 gulden kostte, waarbij men zich kan afvragen of hierbij niet een nul te veel is geplaatst. Een eveneens uit Beetsterzwaag afkomstige neef (oomzegger) van Hidde, de domineeszoon HOTSE VAN SINDEREN staat van 1730, toen hij de meesterproef aflegde, tot 1773 in het zilver-smids-gildeboek van Dokkum vermeld. Het lijkt niet onwaarschijnlijk, dat hij het vak bij zijn oom in Gorredijk geleerd heeft. Bij deze Halbetsma en Van Sinderen zal de financiÍe welstand van de familie van belang zijn geweest voor het afleggen van de dure meesterproef bij het gilde en voor de aanschaf van gereedschap en materialen.
