Notes about Johannes "Jan" van der Hoeve[n]

op verzoek van j.v.d. hoeven is op 17-3-1770 een akte van readmissie verleend, ten behoeven der armbezorgers der stad delft, zoo dezelfde onverhooptelijk tot armoede moge te vervallen

Om uiteenlopende redenen heeft de overheid willen weten wie zich binnen haar grenzen vestigde of hieruit vertrok. In Delft zijn de commissarissen van de Godshuizen al vroeg (1677) begonnen met de aanleg van een register in notulenvorm waarin de binnenkomende en soms de vertrekkende personen werden ingeschreven. Doel was vooral het voorkomen dat er teveel armlastigen en bedelaars in de stad kwamen. Wie zich in Delft wilde vestigen moest tot 1812 aan de commissarissen een akte van readmissie tonen. Dit was een verklaring van het bestuur van de plaats van herkomst dat men een vertrekkende inwoner opnieuw zou opnemen, indien hij/zij tot armoede verviel (re= opnieuw, admissie=toelating). Na het tonen van een akte van readmissie kreeg men toestemming om in de stad te komen wonen, al dan niet voor een beperkte tijd. Later werd het regel dat een nieuwkomer in geval van nood steun kreeg van de stad Delft, wat werd verhaald op de herkomstplaats
