op 9 juli 1879 is hij naar het huis van Verbetering gegaan/gebracht in Alkmaar op zijn 18de verjaardag??
Bron familie-brandsma.nl: Op 4 juni 1857 opende het Huis van Verbetering en Opvoeding in Alkmaar haar deuren. Het was bedoeld voor jongens onder de zestien jaar die zonder oordeel des onderscheids een delict hadden gepleegd. Volgens artikel 66 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht (Code Pénal) moesten deze kinderen geen gevangenisstraf krijgen, maar moesten ze in een speciaal verbeterhuis worden opgevoed. Ze werden daar dan langere tijd geplaatst, meestal tot het twintigste levensjaar.
