Oudste trouwinschrijving in de St.Nicolaaskerk in 1695 van Lutjebroek.
Hier staat op dezelfde datum ook een inschriving vermeld van ene Pieter Sijmonsz met Trijn Albertz en verderop ene Jan Sijsz met Hiltje Cornelisz.
Pas uit het sterfregister van 1733 blijkt, dat Cornelis Sijmonz met de achternaam O(o)teman heette.
Pieter is mogelijk een broer van Cornelis geweest, want zijn vrouw Trijn treedt op als meter bij de geboorte van Cornelis dochter Lisebeth.
In de streken rond Nijmegen komen sinds 1680 veel Oteman(n)s voor. De grote vraag is nu of deze Otemans oorspronkelijk tot dezelfde stamboom behoren als de Westfrieze Ootemans. Beide takken zijn wel katholiek van origine maar er valt geen voornamenovereenstemming te constateren.
Om een verband te leggen met de Otemans uit Zuid Nederland moeten wij terug tot vóór 1680. De oudste Oteman met een n, is gevonden in Zyfflich bij Kleef.En van die tijd af is de familie nagenoeg geheel uitgezocht.
In Zuid Limburg komen nog een aantal Otermans voor. Ook hier moet de verbinding tussen de drie takken (?) gezocht worden vóór 1680, aangezien alle afstammelingen ná 1680 bekend zijn en uitgezocht
